The Assessment only route is a 3 stage process including an audit of the evidence you have for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), see the DfE website for further information. Following the audit, if it is considered that you have the necessary experience and evidence to qualify for this route, you will be invited to contact us to discuss how we might proceed.

The Assessment Route Only into teaching is for those who:

Already have a degree and have passed a standard equivalent to a grade C in the GCSE examinations in English, Mathematics and Science
Have substantial experience of working in a UK school as an instructor or unqualified teacher or as a teacher in an independent school or further education institution
Have passed both of the Professional Skills Tests in literacy and numeracy before interview
Can demonstrate that the evidence from your teaching covers two or more consecutive age ranges from the following:
Ages 3 – 5 (Foundation Stage)
Ages 5 – 7 (School Years 1 – 2)
Ages 7 – 9 (School Years 3 – 4)
Ages 9 – 11 (School Years 5 – 6)
Ages 11 – 14 (School Years 7, 8 and 9)
Ages 14 – 16 (School Years 10 – 11)
Ages 16 – 19 (School Years 12 – 13)

Fees: Total cost £2,300

Stage 1

Initial interview, portfolio check and verification of suitability for assessment only route
Personal qualifications and characteristics
School suitability to support during assessment
Initial overview of evidence including a classroom observation

Stage 2

Preparation for Assessment and completion of portfolio

Stage 3

Final assessment of one day in school
(Applicants would only be charged for (1) until suitability to proceed to final assessment has been established.)
