Supporting Pupils with Autistic Spectrum Condition
SAF Teaching School Alliance have run a number of successful professional study groups aimed at developing support for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Condition in the classroom. The request for places continues and another session has now been confirmed.
The programme will be presented by teaching staff from the provision at Lincroft Academy and will include three sessions:
What is Autistic Spectrum Condition? Practical strategies for supporting pupils in the classroomNext steps: how will you take this forward?
The course can be supplemented by a visit to Lincroft's ASC facility to shadow an HLTA or teacher working with pupils on the autistic spectrum at no extra charge.
Lincroft Academy has housed a facility dedicated to the education of pupils on the autistic spectrum for over ten years and which is recognised for expertise in this field both within, and beyond, the local authority.
Ofsted said in July 2012: “Students in the ASC unit make outstanding progress in all years. Recent improvements in the provision for disabled students and those with special educational needs mean that these students are making similar progress to their peers….The academy has had particular success with students in the ASC unit.”
